Heart Walk Details

Hey everyone! We are gearing up for the walk this coming Saturday! Just checked the weather and it is supposed to be perfect...70ish degrees and sunny!

We wanted to encourage everyone to arrive at the Reservoir at 9:30am to find us and get your shirts (you can pay for your shirts when you pick them up), goodie bags, and coffee (thank you Lafayette Peet's!). We will have a welcome station set up at the far east end of the parking lot, closest to the playground. Look for the red shirts and balloons. And then we will start walking at 10. Everyone can move at their own pace (I would plan about 1 hour to walk) and we will all gather at the picnic area near the playground to fellowship, celebrate, and eat lunch :)

With the gracious help of Lafayette Whole Foods, we are able to provide lunch for everyone! We will have hot dogs and sausages, chips and dips, fruit, drinks, and cookies and cupcakes. The sweet treats are provided by Gianna's Baking Company and SusieCakes Lafayette ~ yum! Plenty for anyone that would like to stay! We only ask that if you feel so inclined, to leave a donation of what you would have spent on a picnic lunch yourself that we will give ALL to the Barth Foundation. This is not all Whole Foods has done to give to this day; they will give us $.50 for every "like" they receive on their Facebook page through Feb. 20.  So if you haven't already, please take 5 seconds and "like" their Facebook page! What an easy way to contribute to this great cause!

Some details about the Reservoir...parking...I would recommend parking in the daily parking/parking pass lot. It cost $7 for the day, but it will be easy to get a spot and you won't have to worry about running out of time in your meter. If you end up parking in the metered parking, they have a 2 hour limit and 2 hours cost $3. All of the machines for either option only take quarters and credit cards. We are planing to have lunch out and ready by 11:30, but just be aware that you may need to run down and add more time to your meter if you do metered parking.

I want to thank everyone that purchased a t-shirt...sales were above and beyond what we had anticipated! I want you to know that nearly 75% of the purchase price of the shirts will be given to the Barth Syndrome Foundation. I found a great local screen printing company, East Bay Screenprint, that generously discounted the shirt cost, making our cost very low, therefore our donation to BSF quite high. I ordered a few extra, so let me know if you would still like one...If you didn't get one, just wear red and you will blend right in :) Also, tax was included in the purchase price.

Other contributors that are helping make this event special:

Thank you for fitting this into your busy schedules and supporting us! Can't wait to see you all!

(I finally got a post up yesterday about our holiday season and a quick Henry update...just don't want you to miss it!)
