Go Frogs! We spent the New Years weekend cheering on TCU at the Rose Bowl! It was a blast. I flew back home with Grady on Thursday morning, did a quick change of bags, and off we were to LA Friday morning to meet up with the Cowans, Thompsons, and Triggers. We had all left our children home, so we had great uninterrupted adult time...great time to really catch up!
We left Grady with Nana and Papa and left them with the task of getting him back on California time. The first morning away, Grady woke up to start the day at 5am. Nana and Papa, excited to play, went ahead and got up with him...so then you can imagine how the rest of the day went...ready for lunch at 10 and ready for bed early! I, of course threatened that I would be calling them all week when he was awake and ready to go that early. So the next day when he woke up at 5am, they let him fall back to sleep until his usual wake up time and had a pretty normal day =), making the rest of the week a piece of cake for Mommy! Nana and Papa did great and Grady had such a good time with them, I know!
We all met in LA New Years Eve Day, had lunch at my Dad and Allis's (our wonderful hosts for the weekend!), and went out to dinner New Years Eve. You would think that 4 couples who had not had time like this in years, on New Years Eve, at the Rose Bowl, would have had a wild and crazy night out on the town ringing in the New Year...but we were home and some were in bed when the clock struck 12!! HAHA. We were all exhausted...most of us were on Texas time, Esther was pregnant, and we had an early wake up time of 5am to get to the parade the next day.
Everything about the weekend was perfect...travel for everyone was smooth, lodging was an ideal situation all being together, the parking and traffic was always easy (which never is the case in LA), and the weather was beautiful! The place we got to watch the parade was fabulous...we were on the balcony of a Mexican restaurant right on the parade route, had 3 great meals, and got to be with other TCU alum. Not to mention a VICTORY!!!! What a game. It was so cool to be there and watch the Frogs win like they did. We were very proud to be wearing purple!
