We celebrated Grady's 4th birthday January 28th! Yes, 2 months ago...I'm a little behind...better late than never, I figure. Can't believe my baby is 4...he transformed into a little boy over night. And I'm sure in a few short years I'll be saying, "He turned into a teenager over night!" I am so proud of him. I have a smile on my face sitting here thinking of all the things I want to record about his life right now so that we never, ever forget. He is such a joy.
The things I love most about you my sweet Little G...your smile, your exuberant energy, your silly, zany sense of humor, your ability to make people laugh, the way you randomly tell me you love me and how much you love me by reaching your arms as far behind your back as you can reach, the way you love and look out for your "baby brother", your beautiful imagination and amazing creativity, your love of the outdoors and all things active and boy, the bruises and scraps on your body from how hard you play outside on your bike, in the dirt, and climbing trees, your love of movies and books, your ability to catch on to a joke or game and play right along, the way you come inside the house and strip down to your t-shirt and underwear, your endearing names for everyone and everything, your curiosity and desire to know more about God and Jesus, your silly facial expressions, the way you love to snuggle in "Mommy's bed", your fondness of dessert and your appreciation of it, your preference of "Paxti's pizza", your love of all things red, and the way you love all things trains, especially steam trains.
Which is why we had a train party again this year! A few family friends joined us the Tilden Steam Trains for a mini version of his 2nd birthday party. It was a beautiful day...we had pizza and a "red James cake", a piƱata that Grady had to rip open on the ground because the kids couldn't bust it open, a ride on the train, and lots of laughter and fun. On his real birthday, we had birthday pancakes and he got to celebrate at school with his classmates by being the special helper and taking rice crispy treats to share, followed by a picnic at the park with some friends. And burgers and milkshakes for dinner at home. The big gift this year was a new shiny, red bike! He outgrew and put so many miles on his red bike from last Christmas; it was time. And he loves it! Rides nearly everyday, all over the backyard and driveway, up and down curbs and grass.
Things his 4th year of life have entailed: chocolate milk in the mornings, preschool, a lot of bike and scooter riding, racing cars around the circle in our family room, walks and rides "on the block", playing trains at the train table, lots of dirt digging in the backyard, learning to share with Henry, helping Mommy and Daddy care for Henry, making guac, peanut butter and jelly train sandwiches, polar express, Cars movie, wrestling with Daddy and Henry (a lot), lots of fights and fits about what to wear (though you have been SO much better the past could of months), walks around the Res, your first camping trip, really learning how to swim, learning letters and sounds, falling in love with the stories of the Bible, trips to the library, and a new found favorite restaurant--Chick-fil-A. You are officially done with napping, though we are trying to figure out the whole quiet time thing.
Funny things you have been saying: Dapple Ablo (Mt. Diablo), canscusting (disgusting), "I love you 25ty-60-hundred-thousand-ninety-45ty!", "Oh, bother!", Polican Spress (Polar Express), "Never trust a pirate!", Mommy-n-me school (Miramonte), G-R-A-D-Y-B-dot (Grady B.)
We love you, Grady Thomas!
