Praise!

I just talked to the cardiologists and their goal is to get us home next week!!!!

We had been waiting for Henry's BNP number to come back...we just got it today and it was half of what it had been! This is great news! They just turned off his milrinone and we will watch him closely through the weekend. They will do an echo tomorrow and again on Monday and we are praying that it reflects the good BNP. At least, that his heart function has stayed stable.  If all is stable, they will prep us on life at home.

We want to ask that you all pray specifically this weekend for Henry as he is off of the milrinone (he has been on this medication since we arrived here). This is a big transition and many kids end up back on it, immediately, days after, or even weeks after depending on how they can do without it. Our hope is that he transitions well onto the other medication and that we can go home, and ideally stay home, not having to come back to the ICU for a while. Besides a miraculous healing, this is the best case scenario...but we are prepared for reality as well.

Also,
please pray that as we make this transition off the milrinone, and then home, that we would have discernment as to what is normal and what is not for Henry. Many "normal" 4 month old baby problems could also mean that his heart isn't working as well. Please pray that it would be clear how Henry is doing and that I, as mommy, would have intuition when something isn't right.

This weekend, Henry's line needed to be unplugged so that it could be flushed out. I took advantage of the "freedom" and asked if we could take him outside for a breath of fresh air. After getting clearance from his doctors and being told that security is watching for us to escape, we were given 30 minutes to be outside. It was a beautiful, crisp, sunny morning and it felt sooooo good to hold my baby boy untethered and walk around in the fresh air!

Here's a sweet little video of a normal playtime with Henry...he talks a lot and wiggles his arms and legs so much that the monitors can't get a good read! He has many fans up here...I learned this weekend that the nurses actually like when I am away and he is awake so they can hold him:).

Thanks again everyone for all of the love and support you are pouring out on us! We will keep you posted...
