Henry

Today they repeated the echocardiogram on Henry's heart. We weren't expecting them to do this until Friday, but they were curious so they did. The results showed not much change, but the very little change they saw was positive. Both Dr. Newkumet and Dr. Patel were hopeful. They did warn us again to not put too much stock in the day to day changes...this is a long process and they are more concerned with the changes over a longer period of time. They will repeat the Echo maybe next Tuesday and believe that it will be more definitive than the one today. They are thinking that Henry's condition will be idiopathic, meaning an unknown cause, rather than genetic, because we have no other cases of cardiomyopathy in children in our family. Henry needed a blood transfusion yesterday and today it is proving beneficial...his blood pressure is a little lower. He has nursed better yesterday and today which is great. The Dr's and nurses are strongly encouraging me to continue to breast feed so that Henry will continue to have a desire to do so, even though he is getting tube fed during the night.

More information on the day to day things later...I have run out of time!

Please pray that Henry remains happy...they say this is more important than the numbers from the tests. And he has charmed everyone in the hospital so they always come to "check" on him ;). Please pray for endurance for John and I...I feel like we are starting a marathon. Pray that we would be able to get somewhat of a schedule for our family...something to keep the days from completely running together, something to look forward to, and something to kind of rely on day to day.

We are so thankful for all of the encouraging emails and phone calls...it is the most comforting thing to know about all of the people praying on Henry's behalf. Thank you. We are also so thankful for our family and friends who are so willing to drop everything to help us. We couldn't do this without them.
